Central Banks |
| Central banks, also known as reserve banks or monetary authorities, define and issue legal tender (money). Their precise role varies from country, but most also manage the foreign-exchange reserves. Some also issue government debt, and some supervise parts of the financial system. Currency boards issue money the value of which is pegged to a different currency, usually the US dollar. |
