2003 Galvez Gala: The Opening Event of the Galvez Project

The November issue of the Somos Primos web newsletter reports on a Gala held in honor of Bernardo Galvez. This living history and music event, in Oct 2003, included more than a dozen Spanish Colonial historical interpreters. This was also the inagurating event for the Galvez Project, which aims to promote the history of Bernado Galvez, who defeated the British forces in the Southeast US during the American Revolution.

This is a gallery of photos of the historical reenactment sponsored by Capt. John Tilden’s Companie / Prince Rupert’s Regiment of Foote and the Men of Menendez (members of the Florida Historic Militia), with the assistance of the St. John’s County Tourist Development Council. The reenactment took place on March 4-6, 2005, in St. Augustine, Florida, our nations’ oldest city. The gallery was provided by the St. Augustine Record, as part of the larger StAugustine.com site.

This is a review in the San Fernando Sun, of "Sons and Souls of California" which was developed by Bruce Buonauro and Fred Blanco. You're all is invited to take a journey back in time to see the efforts put forth by the Spanish to help the American Revolution, then forward to the more modern story. Cesar Chavez and Bernardo de Galvez were two men who helped shape the history of the United States forever. This is higher education program designed for adults and college level.

Pirate Festival at the Mission San Juan Capistrano

Pirates? At San Juan Capistrano? Well, yes, Bouchard did attack the mission in 1818, and there is an event every October. This site is part of the larger Mission San Juan Capistrano site, with event listings, historical info and pictures of the mission.

Tumacacori NHP: High Mass

This event is held twice a year at NHP: Mision San Jose de Tumacacori. Interpretive dress is a requirement to attend the mass itself, and there are clothing suggestions to assist new reenactors. You can usually meet Capitan Anza there (Don Garate) as well as other soldados.
