The Battlecruiser flame war has its roots in the release of Battlecruiser 3000AD in 1996. Discussions took place on AOL and Compuserve forum involving 'fans' and the game's developer, Derek Smart. The discussions migrated onto usenet, and have subsequently started to move onto world wide web based gaming forum. 4. Derek Smart Fun Page - Contains Java based quiz, which can only be answered in a certain way.
5. Flame War Follies - Compendium of information by Bill Huffman. Contains introduction, history, archives including lists of posts covering specific events and allegations, and fictional images and animations.
6. Smarty Man Game Designer - Survivor - Comic strip parody based on some of the events surrounding the flame war.
7. Something Awful: Completely Libelous Review of Universal Combat - Humorous parody by Lowtax, score: -73/-50. Includes response by Derek Smart.
8. The BC3K Summit - Contains photographs from a meeting of flame war participants.
