Symbian was a company formed by Psion and the mobile phone manufacturers. Symbian OS is a newer version of the old Psion EPOC operating system. The first released version under the Symbian OS brand was v6.0. Only two mobile phones were released before the name change, and these were retrospectively rebranded from EPOC to Symbian OS v5.0. 10. UIQ Technology - Developers of a mobile phone user interface that uses the Symbian platform. Includes phones currently sporting the interface and a downloadable software development kit for the UIQ platform.
