Professor Edsger Wybe Dijkstra. Born May 30, 1930 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Died August 6, 2002 Nuenen, the Netherlands. Dijkstra was an algorithm researcher and inventor, creator/initiator of Structured Programming, Schlumberger Centennial Chair in Computer Sciences, Professor of Mathematics, University of Leyden, won 1972 ACM Turing Award.
