This subcategory will have information about literary authors, periods, and movements, as well as bibliograhpies and other leads, for all forms of Pakistani literature written in various Pakistani languages including English. It will include criticism about this literature, but will not have any creative material, which belongs to other subcategories.


1. Adam Zameenzad - Novelist Zameenzad's life and books described briefly.
2. Alamgir Hashmi - Reflection on literary biography and a list of titles by the author, together with criticism about each title, which has reference value. Author's email address included.
3. Alastair Niven on Recent South Asian Poetry - A critical survey of English-language works by poets of South Asian origin.
4. An Interview with Zulfikar Ghose - Author's discussion of his books and Western literature; also comments on life and work in general.

9. Poet, Scholar Hashmi in Iowa - This is a useful and relevant introduction to the work of the major English poet and scholar Professor Alamgir Hashmi, who suggested important principles of cultural coexistene a quarter century ago.
10. Poetry of Escape and Distance--Maki Kureishi - The writer offers a close look at the only English poetry book by this woman poet who died in 1995.
11. Postcolonial and Postimperial Authors - A list of well-known authors from Pakistan and the Indian Subcontinent. The main site has many useful links.
12. Shaista Ikramullah - This is a sketch of a woman parliamentarian who also wrote prose works in English and Urdu.
13. Twilight in Delhi: Indian Resentment of British Rule - A socio-political take on a classic, Ahmed Ali's Twilight in Delhi (1940).
14. Uzma Aslam Khan - The newspaper reportage on the young novelist and her two novels is recent and usable.
15. Uzma Aslam Khan: A Cocktail of Influences - Part interview, the article shows the author's life and ideas reflected in her writing, particularly the novel "Trespassing".
16. What Is a Ghazal? - The ghazal verse-form is described, as in Urdu and some other languages.
