American author, 1907-1988. Wrote semi-autobiographical books about growing up in "Wild West" Utah, including "Papa Married a Mormon", and especially the "Great Brain" series of books of individual stories told in the first person about his conniving older brother Tom. The writing style is light and humorous enough to be popular among children, but the characters and situations are complex.
